Michael J. Quirk is an associate with Williams Cuker Berezofsky in Philadelphia, where he represents consumers, workers, and toxic exposure victims. He is formerly an Equal Justice Works Fellow and staff attorney with Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, where his work focused primarily on fighting mandatory arbitration abuses. He is also formerly a Supreme Court Assistance Project Fellow with the Public Citizen Litigation Group. He has represented plaintiffs making successful challenges to mandatory arbitration provisions before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Tamayo v. Brainstorm USA, the New Jersey Supreme Court in Muhammad v. County Bank of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and the Mississippi Supreme Court in Sanderson Farms, Inc. v. Gatlin. He is co-author of the first four editions of Consumer Arbitration Agreements: Enforceability and Other Topics (NCLC and TLPJ Foundation 2004), part of the National Consumer Law Center’s Consumer Credit and Sales Practice Series. He also has written several articles on mandatory arbitration and other consumer rights issues. He graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 1999.
