U.S. PIRG's Consumer Blog has this nice post concerning a series of related articles on credit card marketing on college campuses and student debt more generally. The new Credit CARD Act, which takes effect next February, limits credit card companies rights to market to these young adults. I blogged last May about Congress's unusual decision to treat this group of adults (18 to 21 year olds) differently from all other adults.

Great post! The current credit card act actually make it hard for people get into credit card debts. For card applicants under 21, they need to have a co-signer or else they would be advised to apply for a debit card instead. More credt card debt relief tips, visit http://creditcarddebtsolver.com

Creadit Cards Debt sold to Students should let them know what kind of debt they are getting into. In my opinion CC debt is probably the worst debt to get.

Consumers should only hire debt settlement companies that charge their fees base on the amount forgiven and only collect these fees at the time of settlement!

Ahead of investing any more of your time and effort in credit card debt elimination, you should consider if debt settlement is the right option for you. The first question you have to ask is "Do you have a legitimate financial hardship?"

I agree that we should be taught financial responsibility younger. So many college age kids are in debt because they are not used to paying credit card bills. It is a big problem.

Well, I don't see any problem with marketing credit cards for young people, but maybe I'm not aware of some of the consequences of this act.
I think I have to read more about this subject.
Good post.

While I agree that it is odd for Congress to treat one group of adults differently than others, I can honestly say that I am glad they are taking this step. So many people get in over their heads and spend their lifetime paying for mistakes they made early. While we should be taught financial responsibility from an earlier age, I am glad to see some protections in place to help prevent young adults falling victim to agressive marketing.
