We blogged here on July 20 about the Food and Drug Administration's monitoring of the emails of FDA scientists who had complained to Congress that the FDA was forcing employees to approve medical devices that posed unacceptable risks. This kind of thing drives Senator Chuck Grassley nuts. He's an FDA watchdog, and he hates it when agencies retaliate against whistleblowers.
On July 27, Grassley sent this lengthy, no-nonsense demand letter to FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg. As you will see, Grassley thinks the FDA is stonewalling, and he wants more information, a lot more information. I don't know whether he's gotten any of it yet.
